Abstract
This study aimed at identifying factors that hamper the promotion of vocational education in Burundi. To reach the goal the researcher formulated some hypotheses as well as questions that would confirm or reject them. The targeted
population was trainees and trainers of 4 public centers of Makamba province. Data were collected on the basis of a written questionnaire, and after analysis and interpretation of data, findings revealed that Vocational Education suffers from critical problems related to the shortage of qualified trainers, the lack of training materials and furthermore, the lack of a toolkit after training which hampers the learner's socio economic integration. Thus adequate instructional materials and facilities should be provided to vocational centers and qualified trainers should be hired. More infrastructures should be built to retain and contain all trainees who desire it, and learners should be sensitized to overcome barriers. And finally a toolkit should be given to learners to integrate occupational life.
