Human Rights violations in Burundi particularly include 1972, 1988, 1993 and 2015 where assassinations, oppression, cruelty and lack of freedom were experienced. It is suspected that the population minds are characterized by fear of violation. This situation fetters implementation of Human Rights Law efforts and retains the need of lasting positive peace. Through library research, interviews, questionnaire techniques and internet sources research methodology, the researcher has analyzed the Human Rights paradigm in Burundi. These are historical background and hypothetical perspectives in the country; description on the meaning and history of the main themes of the work; and Burundi reality through the findings. The roots of Burundian violation throughout history are unequal resource distribution, power sharing and legitimacy of power. As a means of solving the three roots of problems, citizens tend to base on their ethnic groups and political manipulations to access wealth and power which results into intensive violation of Human Rights. About 95.7% of the respondents argue that Burundians live with fear while 4.3% argue that Burundians live without fear of Human Rights infringement. The subsequent empirical statistics unfolds that, there is still a ray of hope to win against the existing fear and mistrust in Burundi to achieve the perpetual positive peace ideal. The researcher recommends that, for positive peace achievements in the Republic of Burundi, Burundians should keep in minds that all essences for implementation of Human Rights Law to attain perpetual positive peace in the State are found within themselves first.Item A critique of approaches and course materials used in teaching english speaking and listening skills in third form arts : a case study of selected schools in Gitega Commune(UB, FLSH, 2010) Ndayikengurukiye, Félicien; Sous la direction de : Mr. Ajayi Owolabi BadmusItem A discourse analysis of speeches uttered during the initiation ceremony of wisemen : case of Rutana commune(UB, Faculty of arts and social sciences, 2012) Nzeyimana, Jeannette; Supervisor: Dr lldephonse HoricubonyeItem A discriptive analysis of english conditionals and their teaching in burundi secondary schools(UB, FACULTE I)ES LETTRES ET SCIENCES HUMAINES, 1987-06) HARUSHIMANA, Immaculée; Supervisors: Mr MATEGEKO Zacharie .; ·Mrs MUHITIRA JudithItem A gravity model of east african trade flows and/or openness determinants : a panel analysis, pp. 71-101,(UB, Cahiers du CURDES, 2009-05) NDEREYAHAGA RichardThis study gauged the East African Community intra-trade Flows and Openness determinants. We've first of all obviously brought light on how the countries within the EAC trade less amongst themselves tl:an what they do with out-of-block trading partners. Moreover, we found their external trade to be highly exposed to world shocks as they have a high dependency parameter. We also found that, in the EAC, trade openness is mainly determined by domestic population, the prices index and the school enrolment rate. It has also beer. found that the Random effects is the best way to model the trade openness function within the EAC and this result implies that trade openness behaviour is not remarkably different from each other. Using a gravity model of intra block bilateral trade, we found that economic performance and population size are critically important determinants. Moreover, the distance variable revealed to be stathtically important in influencing the trade patterns within the EAC. Thus, infrastructure development and production growth are critical for the EAC common market to be a success. Countries in the EAC should produce more and let their people get closer trading relationship in order to benefit the awaited welfare effects for their respective population. The gravity modelling was found sustainable for the intra-block trade within the EAC.Item A lexical study of gisoni dialect spoken at Giteranyi(UB, Faculty of arts and social sciences , 1993-07) Nikubwayo, William; Supervisors: -Dr. Njejimana Grégoire .;Item A lexical study of the church language in Burundi : case of catholic and protestant congregations(UB, Faculté des lettres et sciences humaines, 2003) Ndumuraro, Prosper; Supervisor : Mr Mike LUKUNDOItem A Mathematical Model Exploring the Impact of Climatic Factors on Malaria Transmission Dynamics in Burundi(Journal of Applied Mathematics and Physics, 2024-11) Gatore Sinigirira, Kelly Joëlle; Et al.Mathematical modeling plays a crucial role in understanding the dynamics of malaria transmission and can provide valuable insights for designing effective control strategies. Malaria indeed faces significant challenges due to a changing climate, particularly in regions where the disease is endemic. This disease is significantly impacted by changes in climate, especially rising temperatures and fluctuating rainfall patterns. This study explores the influence of temperature and rainfall abundance on malaria transmission dynamics within the context of Burundi. We have constructed a deterministic model that integrates these climatic parameters into the dynamics of the human host-mosquito vector system. The model’s steady states and basic reproduction number, calculated using the next-generation method, reveal important insights. Numerical simulations demonstrate that both temperature and rainfall significantly influence mosquito population dynamics, leading to distinct effects on malaria transmission. Specifically, we observe that temperatures between 20˚C and 32˚C, along with rainfall ranging from 10 to 30 mm per month, create optimal conditions for mosquito development, thus driving malaria transmission in Burundi. Furthermore, our findings indicate a delayed relationship between rainfall and malaria cases. When rainfall peaks in a given month, malaria does not peak immediately but instead shows a lagged response. Similarly, when rainfall decreases, malaria incidence drops after a certain time lag. This same lagged effect is observed when comparing temperature with confirmed malaria cases in Burundi. These findings highlight the urgent need to consider climate factors in malaria control strategies.Item A pragmatic analysis of some cow praising poems in the burundian socio-cultural context(UB, FLSH, 2003) Niyintunze, Albert; Kwizera, Odette; Sous la direction de : Dr Gregoire NjejimanaItem A pragmatic analysis of some kirundi expressions used at the "end of the morning ceremony "ukuruvako" : a survery conducted in five natural regions of Burundi(UB, IPA, 2011) Nyankuri, Léonard; Sous la direction de : Mr. Gaspard MuhitiraItem A pragmatic analysis of some Kirundi ongoing checks(UB, FLSH, 1996) Nyirubutama, Martine; Supervisor : Dr Matutin SikogukiraItem A pragmatic analysis of some kirundi proberbs depicting gender differences(UB, Faculty of arts and social sciences, 2005) Bigirimana, Deus; SUPERVISOR: Dr Hennenegilde RWANTABAGU; CO-SUPERVISOR Deogratias NIZONKIZAItem A pragmatic analysis of some Kirundi proverbs expressing the theme of imprudence(UB, FLSH, 2014) Ndayikuriyubwatsi, Déogratians; Supervisor : Dr. Ildephonse HoricubonyeThis is a pragmatic analysis of some Kirundi proverbs expressing the theme of imprudence with the aim of using linguistic approach to study how Burundians use Kirundi proverbs to convey various messages. It has been revealed that Burundians make use of proverbs intentionally in a polite way. Proverbs, therefore carry out various messages when they are used in an appropriate way. The study was based on two assumptions. First, that linguistic knowledge alone cannot allow the understanding of the message conveyed through proverbs of imprudence and second, that proverbs expressing imprudence cannot be understood without reference to social customs, culture context. Some Kirundi proverbs expressmg the theme of imprudence were collected from informants and others from written materials. They were translated into English and classified according to the functions they are likely to filfill. The analysis was done on basis of pragmatic aspect. The findings of the study showed that 88% of the informants are aware of the proverbs expressing imprudence. They expressed their views that Kirundi proverbs are used indirectly. Kirundi proverbs can then be taken as one major source of reference to study the culture of a given speech community. The analysis of Kirundi proverbs is recommended as a powerful tool for people concerned with sociopragmatics. Moreover, people who are interested in Kirundi language use, Kirundi proverbs constitute a wide field for them.Item A pragmatic analysis of some kirundi proverbs related to success and comfort(UB, FLSH, 2005) Nzobonwanayo, Josélyne; Sous la direction de : Dr Firmard SabimanaItem A pragmatic analysis of some Kirundi proverbs related to the theme of greediness(UB, FLSH, 2001) Ndayishimiye, Ruth; Sous la direction de : Dr Grégoire NjejimanaItem A pragmatic analysis of some kirundi swearing expressions(UB, FACULTV OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES, 1992-02) KIGEME, Claudette; Supervisor : Dr. Firmard SABIMANAItem A pragmatic analysis of some of Bobo Marley's songs portraying black people's emancipation(UB, FLSH, 2018) Nininahazwe, Jean Marie; Sous la direction de : Mrs Alice Rwamo
