| dc.description.abstract | In Burundi, legislation clearly specifies the status of each of the languages involved. However, users of these languages do not respect the law, as it specifies, although it is often said that "no one is supposed to ignore the law". The transgression of the law on the status of languages in Burundi is generally noticeable in advertising posters/signs, sometimes with spelling, syntactic or even semantic shortcomings or complexities. These posters being intended for everyone, therefore open to any criticism, leaves the observer or any informed person to ask himself the question of the languages in use in Burundi and their degrees of "mastery" by the authors of the advertisements. It is then through some posters / advertising signs found in the city of Bujumbura that we will demonstrate the inconsistency between the decision and the execution of language policy. | |
